Check traffic forecasts
Preparing your itinerary a few days before your big departure limits the risk of getting stuck in traffic jams. Many websites allow you to consult traffic forecasts based on your day and time of departure. Don't hesitate to adapt it to travel relaxed by avoiding rush hours in big cities.
Check the condition of your car
If your vehicle has not been serviced, be aware that every garage offers a "check-up" package before leaving on holiday. But there is nothing complicated to do yourself: you basically need to check the levels (oil, coolant, brake and windscreen washer fluid), the air conditioning, as well as the tyre pressure. Be careful because the tyre pressure must be increased if you are driving with a heavy load. This information can be found in the on-board manual or on the sticker located near the driver's door (inside or at the bottom of the B-pillar).
Equip yourself properly
We mentioned tyre pressure above. It should also be checked if you have a spare wheel! But to be truly at peace and avoid any hassle, it is better to take the Bardahl Puncture Repair with you. It repairs and reinflates your tyre instantly*. Even if this repair should be considered temporary, it is the simplest and quickest solution, without dismantling!
Buy the Puncture Repair (France)

In addition to your Bardahl Puncture Repair, don't forget all the mandatory equipment: a safety vest (preferably 1 per passenger and CE approved), a first aid kit, a warning triangle, a fire extinguisher and a breathalyzer.
*Suitable for tubeless tires only. Not suitable for torn tires and punctures greater than 5mm or on the sidewalls.
Arrange luggage securely
Once installed in your car, never forget that luggage can be moving masses that can unbalance the vehicle. The heaviest objects will be placed at the bottom of the trunk to be closer to the center of gravity while the lightest objects will be closer to the rear. Also make sure to distribute the masses harmoniously between the left and the right. Do not forget to respect the maximum authorized mass (MMA) of your vehicle, especially if you use a roof box.
Don't neglect breaks
There are still many tips for leaving by car to your holiday destination: remember to keep the children occupied, not to surround them with dangerous bags that will turn into projectiles in the event of an impact or emergency braking and, if you are taking animals, remember to secure them and keep them hydrated. This is why, for them as well as for you, it is advisable to stop at least once every 2 hours.
